Backyard…feels like home.

Sorry for the absence as of late; moving and life and such. We are finally home! We still have a bit of work to do; but we are home, and it feels deliciously warm and cozy. Today was cold. It has been cold (at least for Texans) for the past two weeks. But today, despite… Continue reading Backyard…feels like home.

Laundry/Craft/Creative Room.

Our laundry room began as a bedroom with a fallen in chimney. It is now a buoyantly joyful spot in the home; perfectly functional for the daily task of laundry and ironing, but also delightfully inspiring for painting and creating. Please see this previous post for a more in depth look at the laundry room… Continue reading Laundry/Craft/Creative Room.

Vent Hood and Range.

Our vent hood was one of the most difficult features of the home to get just right. Our inspiration originated in our favorite restaurant in our favorite city:┬áCanlis.┬áLocated in Seattle, Canlis is an impressive dining destination; a restaurant with deep family roots, culinary prowess, enchanting piano music, comfortable elegance, sweeping views, and unmatched service. We… Continue reading Vent Hood and Range.

Wood floors gleaming again!

Our wood floors (both old and new) are fully refinished and stained. Please see this previous post for further information on our wood floors: Floors glorious floors. We matched the original wood stain as closely as possible; a deep antique brown with hints of red to add a glowing warmth (75% Rosewood and 25% Red… Continue reading Wood floors gleaming again!

The Library.

I love books. I love the physical presence of an actual book; not just while reading the book, but also when I run across it sitting upon my shelf years later, perhaps picking it back up for another read, or just remembering the treasures hidden within the bound pages. For me, my library will be… Continue reading The Library.

Kitchen Cabinet Hutch.

I am not sure how I came upon the idea of a glass front kitchen hutch, probably during one of my lovely evening strolls down the streets of Pinterest. Anyways, I am delighted with the end result! This piece looks as though it is free standing, but it is actually a permanently installed feature of… Continue reading Kitchen Cabinet Hutch.

Breezeway at night!

Just a quick update on our now complete breezeway. The lights are all installed (including the sconces, globes, and step lights) and the stone pavers are grouted. Warm, inviting, and aglow with light! Looking from the garage on into the mudroom. Looking from the mudroom back towards the garage. Love and hugs, Suzie
